Charming art deco classic
Retaining all its period charm, the home’s light and bright interior comprises three bedrooms (large main) all with built-in robes, as well as a bathroom with terrazzo floor and separate WC.
Add to this an elegant front lounge, formal dining room and luminous rear living area adjoined by an updated kitchen complete with quality cooking appliances and dishwasher.
Other stand-out features include a full-size laundry, ducted heating and air conditioner (lounge), along with high Art Deco ceilings, solid hardwood floors, internal etched-glass windows and original steel-frame external windows.
Complementing the comfortable interior is a substantial backyard with large, powered workshop or handy storage space, garden shed, plus a secure carport via the side driveway and additional off-street parking option via the rear ROW.
Broadway cafes and shops around the corner along with Reservoir Station and a choice of bus routes, it also offers easy access to a range of schools, Reservoir Leisure Centre, popular parks and Darebin Creek trails.
Owners Notes
What do you love about the home?
It's light and spacious. I love the well preserved original Art Deco features like the little octagonal window, the curved front window and varnished wood work. Plus the Art Deco bathroom is a classic. This all creates a feeling of character and a homely vibe. It's great having two large living areas, so you can get away from the rest of the family if you want. Having a big back yard adds to the sense of space. The sheds, workshop and carport are really handy for storage or doing your hobbies.
What do you love about the area?
Broadway is a two-minute walk. Lady Bower cafe is even closer. And then the other shops on High St and the other half of Broadway are also just a short walk. As is the station. The food options are great. Particularly the Lakeside Cafe. You can also cycle mostly off road from Reservoir Station all the way into Fitzroy and the city. And there is a huge corridor of green space and bush along Darebin Creek about 10 minutes walk away. I often took our dog down there and you could walk for miles.
What features does your property have?
Art Deco features, two living areas, built-in robes, ducted heating, dishwasher, off-street parking, updated Deco bathroom with resealed shower and new taps and tiles, power and lights in workshop, lights in back shed, new roller door, new laundry taps.
