Investing in education – staff scholarship program
In partnership with the Fitzroy and Carlton North offices the Nelson Alexander Foundation has committed $6,600 per annum for the next 2 years to support two individual staff scholarships.
About the Royal Women’s Hospital
Established over 165 years ago, the hospital is Australia’s first and most respected specialist hospital dedicated to improving and advocating for the health and wellbeing of women and newborns.
The Royal Women’s Hospital cares for women through all stages of life, with services ranging from reproductive services, maternity, gynaecology, women’s cancer services, and women’s mental health, as well as specialist care of newborns.
The impact of our support
The supporter relationship between Nelson Alexander and the Women’s helps enhance healthcare for all Victorian women and babies by creating opportunities for staff to learn and grow.
The impact of our support goes beyond the walls of the hospital and contributes to building a stronger public health care system and enhanced patient care, by providing the opportunity for staff to improve their skills to deliver the care and service to exceed community expectations.
The scholarships will allow:
- Staff to complete professional development and further education
- Empower staff to gain new skills and competencies as specialists in their field
- Provide staff with a pathway to explore new career opportunities at the hospital
- Enhance patient care
“Our scholarships will enable staff to gain access to new knowledge and expertise. This is particularly important given that the half-life of nursing knowledge (that is the length of time for half of the knowledge to become obsolete) is three years.”
